Is this a good brand of HD/4K TVs, I’m thinking of buying one, that’s if I don’t get a Samsung.

Dont waste your money, it is a cheap China stuff... Samsung and LG are both very good. I prefer LG.

I've had one in the house for 7 or 8 years now. It works great still. It's not our primary tv anymore as I upgraded to a smart tv. But for the price it's done awesome.

Interesting read here. There are very few TV factories left in the world. Almost all TV's are made in a handful of factories regardless of what name is on the front.

We have had a Hisense TV for about 7-8 years now (43" 1080P). Been nothing but great to us. I was a bit hesitant on buying it at the time, same as you are now. I did a bit of research, and while they are a Chinese brand, they are considered the number one brand in China - in popularity, and reliability. I would not hesitate to buy one again.

I picked up a hisense flat screen 42 inch that had a free sign on it in someone’s front yard. Upon further inspection it would not turn on. Googled it replaced some capacitors and it works like new. Second tv now that Iv got like this for FREE

You need to do some of your own research, my friend. LG is a SOUTH KOREAN company, same with Samsung. Neither of them are domestic/North American.  
 
I have a Hisense myself, and I rather enjoy it. Works just as well as the more expensive brands on the market. I work for a retailer that has been selling Hisense for 4 years now, and we've not had 1 come back for issues that were caused by a manufacturer defect! Can't say the same for the Samsungs we carry!

If your really looking for one to avoid, I would not touch a Magnovox with a 10' pole. I used to sell them, and I spent more time dealing with maintenance issues than selling them. Phillips isn't much better, but at least they are OK.

Never did I say LG or Samsung was built in North America.

I did buy 1 as I liked the price and picture and the store was sold out of Samsungs I wanted. Got it home and I did have a samsung soundbar already and I hooked it up to this TV using a high quality digital optical cord and it had a mind of its own. Streaming netflix or youtube it would not have bass, not bad sound with bell tv box but dvd player seemed to only have bass. Very strange, no one could come up with an answer and the store was good, took it back within a week and I got them to take the Samsung I wanted off the wall and box it up again and am very happy I did. Same soundbar, same cord and works exactly as it should.
