I recently updated my equipment with the latest offering (after being prompted by the email). I don't have any problems with the new interface, per say, but maybe an annoyance?  
Well, 2 actually, but more on that later.  
 
1.) Tivo Suggestions  
 
The techs were to busy to explain beyond the bare basics as to the dynamics of this system, so it took me a month to even find this folder. But once I did (and I researched its purpose), it became a great asset. A fair bit of clutter, but also a lot of material I would never have found otherwise.  
 
Well, until the update. In which case it now keeps repopulating the list with the same set of 3 or 4 shows that I keep deleting and down thumbing.  
 
I assume that it will eventually relearn our habits?  
 
Not a problem, just a bit disappointing. It was working great before!  
 
2.) VU-IT App Issues  
 
Both pre and post update, I've had some problems with devices being temporarily kicked from the box for a day or 2, then the issue fixes itself. It's happened to a phone and a tablet (not at the same time, both Androids).  
 
I'm wondering if this is a common issue or some sort of hiccup on my end.

The new release should honor the thumbs up and down references that were learned since you were set up with the Tivo equipment. The Vu-It issue seems strange.  
 
With both of those items I would suggest calling the helpdesk. If there is a problem we need to have a record linked to your account (a ticket) so that we can get the proper vendors looking into it. If it is a problem in your specific device then sometimes it can be fixed by sending a command to the box. In many circumstances just pulling the power cord for 30 seconds then plugging it back in can solve strange issues (especially after a major update like you recently had).  
 
I have been running the new release for many months and have never seen issues like you are having but there are different models and sometimes a model will have an issue but others won't. There are a lot of moving parts to these new smart devices.

Mine is the Pace model that I assume everyone who goes tivo with Westman gets. But I will do that if it keeps happening.
