Apple Watch 3 and my fitness pal

I use MFP and have an Apple Watch. I’m having a heck of a time getting the steps to jive. As I’m my Apple Watch says one thing and when I open the MFP app to journal my food and water, the steps don’t show accurately on there.. it used to so don’t know what has changed. Any suggests to what I could do?
