Is there anyone in the area that is providing courses to get the RPAS certificates for basic or advanced? Or has anyone on ebrandon been able to get either certifications?

I took mine about 2 years ago, you are looking for anyone that offers UAV ground school (different companies will have different names for it, but its all the same). You simply need a basic UAV ground school course to start the process of getting your special flight operators certificate (which you need to basically do anything with a drone, even if you plan on just taking photos and posting on facebook). Your SFOC will require you to have a second person with you at all times to safely complete your fight and keep the public at a safe distance. I hired a company out of alberta to complete my SFOC application and it costed around $3000. Dont think that all you need to do it is complete your UAV ground school as that it not the case, either go completely legal or not legal at all, if you get checked being half legal you will be fined and/or criminally charged as if had not done any training at all.
