We are thinking of switching to Shaw Direct Internet but we're wondering what experiences others have had with the Internet service? If getting the satellite TV & Internet package does anyone know whether the Internet slows down if someone in the house is watching the TV?

We just inquired about a month ago, and Shaw does not have internet in Brandon or surrounding area. They will recommend Xpolernet to you.

that just east of Sandy Lake we could either get Explornet via satellite or get Internet using line-of-sight wifi. We presently have Rogers LOS Internet & it works fairly well but Shaw offers unlimited Internet at a not-too-bad price which is why we're thinking of switching. We found this out on Thursday so I suspect "something" has changed recently that we'd be told this by Shaw.

Shaw Direct only offers Satellite TV service. Shaw internet is only available in and around Winnipeg by cable connection. They do however have a marketing partnership with Xplornet that offers LTE Hi Speed wireless from towers around Manitoba and is available in an unlimited package. Where line of site (LOS) is not available to a tower they offer satellite connections at reasonable rates.  
To see if you have access to a tower call us, Man Can Communications @ 204-725-DISH (3474) and we can arrange for a site survey as we are in the Sandy Lake area a couple of times a week.
