I have 20,000 plus photos/vids on my iPhone that I want taken off and placed on an iMac and or external device  
I’m overwhelmed at this process as used to plug phone in once a month and transfer them to computer, now I’m clueless and really want them placed in a picture folder on my computer so I can  
1. Free space on phone (taking 252 gb up)  
2 . make calendars and albums with the photos  
Any suggestions on a place in Westman that can help?  
 
Because I’m so nervous about losing the photos, would someone put them on my computer yet leave them intact on my phone til I see the transfer is done?  
Also, will removing the photos from phone remove them from the iCloud? I pay for extra storage.

Not a Mac person, but would downloading from folders in iCloud to the Mac and then deleting folders on iPhone be a better way to accomplish what you want to do?

Go to Applications and then Image capture. Connect your phone to your iMac and after making a new folder select your photos to be transferred. You have the options to delete pictures from your device at the same time but I always check the new folder first to be sure. It's easy!!

Okay thank you for the info, do you think I can do this by myself at home and shouldn’t need to take it to a professional? I just don’t want to lose anything or make a mistake.  
Will I be able to select over 20,000 photos all at once or should I do this bit by bit?  
Also, How do I find out the memory capacity of my iMac? Should probably know that before transferring a large amount of pictures and videos  
Kind of like this headache off my shoulders because my phone is so far I just want everything on there safely somewhere else and not have to worry about the full phone

It's a fairly easy process but if you're that nervous maybe you should ask for some assistance.  
If you do attempt to transfer pics, just pick a few to begin with to make sure they are going where you mean them to.

Yes I am really nervous the job has gotten so big now I don’t even know how to do it!!  
we recently got an iMac in the last year and all my previous photos were transferred from another computer to it  
 
I’ve never really plugged the phone into an iMac so not sure what I’m doing.

if you have an apple account and you sign in on both the Mac and the phone and have the cloud functions activated your phone should automatically either transfer all the pics to the cloud or the Mac.  
Also when/if you connect the phone to the Mac via USB you should be able to back up your phone to the mac.  
Apparently you have not been doing backups if you have never connected. Have you been doing updates?  
The process recently changed so Google it. It was sort of automatic through Itunes but that changed.  
 
20,000 is a lot of photos, How can you possibly manage that number let alone find a specific shot. Sounds like a good time to dump the shots where grandma has her eyes shut.

Yes my phone is still regularly updating and all the photos are in iCloud.  
I have not chosen the optimize photos on my phone As I did that in the past and when I plugged my phone into my computer it showed there was zero photos on my phone so the physical photos are on my phone (I have the 250 gb phone)  
 
The photos are all being updated to iCloud when I charge my phone on wifi and my iPhone software is up to date. Yes it’s a lot of photos. It was 2017 since I’ve transferred Photos and now I am daunted by the process as I’m not technologically savvy and very busy with kids etc

Plug your iphone into computer and copy and paste your photos/videos off of your phone just like it was a flash drive. If you simply copy and paste, it will not effect anything on your phone, it dont delete it or anything but it will be fully backed up. You should not pay anyone to do this, it should take about 2 minutes of your time to start the process, it might take a few hours to actually do the copy and paste but should only take a quick few minutes to get it going.
