They don't have the infrastructure in Brandon. They and Bell play pretty nice together, but maybe a case of their not going full tilt in some markets Bell's established in and vice-versa? Did find their cell phone service to be quite good and competitive though.
Brandon's a pretty unique telco competitive environment compared to other parts of Canada that have two or three of the big guys all established in mobility/tv/internet, so some of the price wars you see elsewhere wont necessarily play out the same way. Rogers especially is being super aggressive in markets where they've taken over Shaw and it seems like its led to some downward price pressure.
I did take a look at both of WCG and BellMTS' sites and the promo plans they're advertising right now seem to be in the ballpark of whats being advertised elsewhere, without getting into digging deeper on pricing by bandwidth or bundling. Some variance but I'm not sure I see much that would say a person could expect to get for much less if Telus were in town.
I have zero info to suggest this will, should or could happen so dont start any rumours... but I do wonder what the competitive dynamic would look like if WCG and one of the big national guys worked together tightly in some way, shape or form (depending on what the regulator would even allow). That could be a case of careful what you wish for though. Found that WCG really punches above their weight, and for any benefits from a larger company there are also benefits to dealing with a more compact org without the extra layers of bureaucracy.
If you havent already, if you arent completely satisfied with what you're getting have you considered calling to see how your concerns could be addressed?
