New Windows "I'm a PC" campaign: effective?

Many may have seen the new "I'm a PC" commercials that Microsoft is running:

In it they're clearly firing back at Apple's successful Mac vs. PC commercials that have attempted to define the type of person that uses each kind of computer.
My question is, how effective do you feel Microsoft's new campaign is/will be?
I've been a big Microsoft user and booster all of my life, but personally I relate this to election campaigns. If one candidate is on the offensive and the other is forced to play defensive, it's said that the offensive candidate is dictating the flow. In a way it almost legitimizes the status of the one that's on the offensive. When I saw the new MS commercial, that's the feeling I got.. that Microsoft is in an unintentional sort of way acknowledging that these commercials have hurt them and their spot in the marketplace and in the process are opening the door that much more for Apple to keep hammering home the image they're trying to create.
Thoughts?
