buying a printer

I want to buy a printer for my home use and I do not do a lot of printing so which would be my best buy and to go 5 ink cartridges or 2? Also the 5 ink cartridges i have to buy are close to 100.00 bucks. My printer I have now is about 2 years old and so far the only cartridge I have replaced is the black but now all the colors are gone.
