Discussions

Does anyone know any OS's that are a good alternative to windows?  
 
Ive had so much problems with (now) vista that in interested in maybe getting away from microsoft next time i get a new machine (maybe even switch my machine, if that's possible). The versions ive used before have been not much better either, XP with its task manager flaw.  
 
So are there any mac/Linux users out there?  
 
How are they when it comes to stability? Is it hard to find basic software for them?
