Who else is following the Applet Tablet rumour mill with curiosity and interest?
For those not up to speed, speculation is abound that Apple is likely to unveil a tablet computer at a January 27th news conference. While nobody knows for sure what it will look like, what operating system it will run, or even that it for-sure exists, rumours right now are centred around it having the look and feel of a super-sized iPhone with a 10" screen and access to all of the apps that have helped to make the phone so successful. The larger screen would potentially make it an ideal eBook reader, platform for watching movies and I'm sure many other applications that aren't ideal on the small iPhone/iPod touch screen.
Tablet computers have been anything but a mainstream success so far, but if Apple does in fact launch one as expected later this month it will be interesting to see how they plan on adding the Apple touch in order to make the device as mainstream as supply chain reports indicate they're preparing for. Based on how they've been able to refine the MP3 player concept with the iPod and refine the smartphone concept with the iPhone, I have a hunch that they're up to something good.
Personally I'm open to the idea of replacing my netbook with such a device IF it's easy to type on and battery life is fair.... but will have to see what's launched (if it is in fact launched).
Here's an article from today that alleges leaked specs on the tablet:
