How to change a handycam's DVD-R over to DVD...

My husband and I had our wedding taped by a guys with a handycam and he gave us a DVD-R (one of those really little olooking DVDs) and I need to know where I can go to copy it onto a DVD, b/c I can't do it through my lap top or my DVD player... Thanks for the replies!
