Facebook doesn't keep my info private??

Why do people post their entire life story on the Internet (Facebook) then complain that their privacy has been violated??
I don't get it. Wouldn't your privacy still be intact if you didn't take the chance by laying it all out for the world to see?
It's like saying the ground hurts everytime I jump off that cliff.
