HitchBot, the end of a journey
8/5/2015 at 11:16 PM
Just found this out online and its somewhat of a sad story. In short, a Canadian couple made a social experiment called HitchBOT.
HitchBOT, a small homemade robot about the size of a child, was sent on a cross country trip. Fitted with a GPS and able to take a picture every 20 seconds, HitchBOT managed to see many things across Canada.
Sadly, shortly after beginning its journey, HitchBOT was found by somebody (identity currently unknown) and was violently beaten to an end where he was nonfunctional.
People have written the creators and offered moral support and even donations to help repair it or replace it. HitchBOT had actually made itself across Canada and even made it to Europe somehow, and then back to North America where it was seen at a Baseball Game before meeting its end.
