Hi high tech people!  
My IPad has gotten a problem and does not charge and now it is completely out of battery and does not start. I tried different charger and cable, still does not charge. I took it to winnipeg Apple store for advice and they said whole device has to be replaced and I have no more warranty on my iPad. The problem is I have precious pictures on my iPad which I really want to salvage somehow. Anybody knows any trick that might work?

Not really familiar with iPads in particular but unfortunately I don't think there is much that can be done until its repaired. If you connect the iPad to computer with cable and the computer doesn't recognize it then there is a problem with the port on iPad (as you have already tried a different cable). Is there not some sort of automatic "cloud" backup solution that is implemented on Apple devices? I know on the Android devices you can have your pictures automatically backed up to the cloud via Google Drive.

So, you didn't back them up to iCloud, or a computer, or anything else?  
Try recover mode, then download to a computer.  
Or, log into iCloud, and see what's there.

If your iPhone or iPad won't charge, one of the first and easiest things to try is a hard reset.  
 
To hard reset:  
 
1. Press and hold down both the Sleep/Wake button and the  
Home button at the same time.  
Hold it down between 10 - 20 seconds.  
 
2. Keep them held down until you see an Apple logo.  
 
3. Let go.  
 
Once your iPhone or iPad has rebooted, try plugging it in again. If it starts to charge, you're good.  
 
If this button combination doesn’t work, your iPhone or iPad may need to be charged for a while first before attempting the Power+Home button hard reset.  
 
Charge it for 6 -8 hrs and check if it powers up.  
 
Press the Sleep + Home button at same time for some 20-30 secs which should start up your iPad, if not try for 3-5 times which will help.  
 
If this doesn't work, it may be a hardware problem. It could be as simple as a pin in your dock connector bent or corroded, which isn't too hard to fix, or something a little more in depth. This too can most likely be repaired. If you have any questions send me a private message, I'd be happy to help.  

I have a ipad that is stuck, glitched from the latest update. Now it says "slide to upgrade" , holding down the home and pwr buttons will put the device into recovery mode. My issue is this, i was told the apple store can recover the photos/videos from said device. We also did not backup anything, and there is one 5 min video of my wife on our ipad that is priceless as she passed away last year. My daughter is devastated about this, and im praying the apple store can help, was told they have a app for that .....

There is a new update (9.0.1) that came out yesterday to address a small percentage of users like you having issues.  
I would suggest updating via iTunes.  
 

i know mine wont update via itunes in the normal way, i have to update in recovery mode .... ill try tonight to update again. Mine says error 4301 and just tells me to restore .... and it will erase .... this video is priceless and i need to save this video .... i will say yes im losing sleep over it ... help us ipad users someone please =(

I have tried to hold and keep both buttons but Apple logo did not show up. I am connecting to outlet to charge it, but I am not sure if it will charge. It does not realize connection to power.

If it's off, plug into USB while holding the home button. (Must be off, hold home button until something on screen appears)
