We have 2 DVD players (both Panasonic) - one is a standard player and the other is Blu-Ray. The manuals say the machines will play DVD's labelled as Region 1 or ALL.  
 
Bought a DVD movie on-line that was advertised as Region 1 - when I insert the disc I get the message "incompatible disc" on either machine.  
 
I contacted the seller who says the DVD is actually Region 0 - and it should play on any DVD player.  
 
My questions are:  
(1) Does Region 0 mean there is no coding on the disc and that's the reason my machines won't play the disc?  
(2) Does Region 0 mean the same as Region ALL?  
(3) The seller claims the disc should play on any DVD player - why am I getting the "incompatible disc" message?

You could try googling how to "unlock" your DVD players. I had accidentally bought a kids movie on Amazon that was for the Australian region but I was able to follow a video that showed me the code to unlock my Sony Bluray player universally.

Regardless of region it will play in your computer which you could connect to ur TV or rip the disks contents to ur PC. Send me a pm if it still doesn't play I'll try to copy and recode/burn the disc for u. Since you own the disc this process is legal for your own personal use

I gave my Mom a DVD set for Christmas that I bought from Amazon and the same thing happened. Unfortunately she lives in a different province so hopefully her grandson can help her out. I never knew there were different regions for DVDs.

If you bought them from UK, DVD/BD output may be in 50 Hz and won't play in some players regardless of the region.

I tried changing some of the settings on my DVD player to no avail - the DVD is in Polish with English subtitles and was bought from an amazon.com seller (shipped from Florida).  
 
I have been in contact with this seller again this evening and the seller says that region code 0 means that there is no coding on the disc and theoretically it should play on any machine world-wide but some players just refuse to play the disc so the seller has processed a full refund and told me to keep the disc.  
 
Excellent customer service but I really would like to see the movie so I have also e-mailed another seller to ask them to verify what the region code is - it was supposed to be region 1.  
 
Maybe I'll have a reply later today - I may also consider asking someone if it's possible to burn a new disc from one that has no coding.
