Beats suck

I know that there are droves of people who buy brands like Beats and Bose, because their high price and marketing cause them to be perceived as the ‘nicest’ brand offered at most electronics retailers. They do the most effective advertising, and consumers typically confuse high price with high quality. In fact if you do some searching you will see Beats cost about $20 to make yet they are sold for hundreds. They are excessively bassy and not to mention ugly.
Unfortunately most people buy headphones because of who is promoting them, or because you’ve seen product placement for them in almost every (bad) music video that’s come out in the past two years… If that's you then it’s too late for you.
I’m not a fan of Beats headphones, clearly. I much prefer the Beyerdynamics DT770 and even the M-Audio Q-40, which are both cheaper and give a lot more detail. But I like a very different headphone than a teenager trying to impress their peers. So I’m not the demographic Beats are after and that makes sense. They are after kids with cash, like most of the music industry.
So basically I think beats are terrible. But for those set on beats be careful where you buy them. There are TONS of Chinese knock offs, in fact even the eBrandon classifieds are usually flooded with fake Beats that are trying to be passed off as genuine (even though the probably sound as good as the real ones). I would suggest to do a little more research and get a better pair unless you are more of a looks vs. sound type.
