In the market for a new desktop computer. Nothing fancy, not for gaming. Would like to have data transferred from my current computer to the new computer at the same time. What is your recommendation?

Geekz! We've bought our last 2 from Geekz. They service and sell.

I also second Geekz computers. The support and after sale service has been awesome. I have had mine coming 2 years and phone in or in person always willing to help out and very honest opinions. They are my go to computer store now.

Why? It processes everything much faster. There is so much bandwidth shoved into every page that a non-gaming PC cannot keep up.  
 
My next computer will be up to gaming standards. I do not play games, I work from home.

I would recommend waiting until Black Friday and buying whatever is on for a good price for your needs.

The place in Brandon to buy a computer. Had great service and information from them, they don't try to oversell you and help out with your needs, and no, for what you are looking for, price is really not much more, if at all. I found accessories way better priced than at the big retail stores in town.  
 
I agree with another on this thread, stay away from Best Buy. You get people who really don't know or don't care what you buy as long as you buy from them. You will likely have buyer's remorse right after too!  
 
Staples is not much better unfortunately. I have limited knowledge with computers but did enough research to know what to look for. Lady working there gave me wrong information but said it with such conviction and confidence and was adamant that she was right. Showed her proof, and she was upset and was less than willing to help. I left.  
 
I hate to speak ill of other businesses in town is it nice having variety but those two retailers are very poorly ran in my opinion and no one seems to listen to customers when you do have legitimate concerns. You know they are looking at you and just listening out of obligation. It's a waste of my time going to those two places.

I gotta say, the argument for buying a gaming computer for non-gaming doesnt make a lot of sense.  
 
The argument that they process things faster is true...if those things are heavy render graphics. They work faster because they have dedicated GPU''s which are focused entirely on graphics. The GPU doesn't do a whole lot for any other applications and is essentially useless if you're not gaming or doing Auto-Cad  
 
However what makes gaming computers faster for everything is that they tend to have nice CPUs, a lot of ram, and solid state drives. You can get those things in non-gaming computers without having to pay extra for crazy expensive power supplies and cooling.  
 
If you dont do gaming but want a fast computer, focus on..  
 
-Solid State hard drives  
-a good CPU  
-a decent amount of Ram.  
 
You are then not paying for  
 
-Video Cards  
-Unnecessarily expensive power supplies  
-Extra cooling

The guys at Geekz asked me what i used my laptop for and ordered me a laptop that does exactly what I need it to do. I would recommend them anytime! They won't try to upsell you with something you don't need. They just want to make you happy.

We have bought from and serviced many computers at Geekz and they are wonderful. They are so knowledgeable and always happy to offer advice even when I just do a walk in to ask a random question!

One more vote for Geekz. I've been a very satisfied customer for many years.

They build them there and give you 3 years warranty.
