While I don't give either leader much credit during this pandemic, it was just the 2nd week of March when things started to "sound serious" here in Canada as well.

Why is USA doing as bad as it is, given that they had one of the best government responses?  
 
This has to be one of the funniest things I have read in a long time! President claiming "it's just one sick person", "It's just a Chinese disease", and many other things, as his people die all over the country. Using politics, not need to be the deciding factor where needed supplies go. Florida Governor refusing to close the beaches during spring break, despite the pandemic (replace Covid by a shark, and it's Jaws). When they finally get on board and start doing things they make stupid exemptions (church's can still gather with as many people as they want). Not sure if it was the worst response, it sure may have been (pretty sure it was).  
 
As for population density, are you even aware how many people are in China, a MUCH smaller country? Not that is doesn't have anything to do with it, of course it does, but China has a much greater density the USA.  
 
As for the media, that is true, but there is also the government sowing distrust between the people and the media as well. There is media that makes up stories, but there is legit media that calls the government on it's failings, the government cries fake news. Even when there is video proving otherwise.

there are groups of people protesting the stay at home orders. Lansing, MI just had one where they were blocking hospitals and ambulances. Like WTF!!!

Trump is now praising protestors in three states that are protesting their rights to gather in crowds. These are three swing states where he needs support in the upcoming election.

because the protesters are angry that they can't get their hair done and other BS reasons. They don't like the government telling them what to do, but will obey trump and his dictatorship ways.

I could digress but 'Merica is screwed in this pandemic. You can all bash Trudeau all you want but he is doing his best in this to keep us rallied behind a common cause. Far cry from south of the border. They are on 50 different teams trying to play the same game. Mix in a system more concerned about capitalism than the welfare of the people and you have the USA. I just hope our government stays strong and keeps them out of Canada for as long as possible as this pandemic is going to wash over their country in the next 6-8 months. We don't need their infected here.

After reading about the Michigan protests a couple of days ago is it hard to see why they are struggling to get it under control.  
Then the meat packing plant in Sioux Falls South Dakota where 700 became infected because they didn't take ut serious.  
South Dakota has roughly 50% of Manitobas population but far more cases.  
This is why people should control their movements.

those protest are getting bigger. All because they think it's their right to spread the virus, they don't like the government telling them they can't do certain things. They believe it's nothing more than a democratic hoax meant the hurt trump.  
 
There's a good chance many of those protesters have the virus and are spreading it. There will likely be deaths out of those who gathered there.

One of the first things my husband and I said to each other when lockdown measures were put in “I hope this doesn’t create mass riots around the world” Id say protests like this are where it starts, and they’re only going to grow in numbers and aggravation the longer this goes on. Can’t see this playing out well.

The number of employees infected with coronavirus at a giant pork processing plant in the US state of South Dakota continues to rise.  
 
According to the state's health department, 748 Smithfield Foods employees have now tested positive, as have 143 people who came into contact with them. That brings the total number of cases linked to the plant to 891, a rise of more than 300 since 15 April.  
 
Last week, the plant became the largest coronavirus hotspot in the US. We spoke to workers, their families and union representatives who say the company put employees' health at risk in a bid to keep the plant open.  
 
In a statement to the BBC, the company said it had taken the appropriate measures.
