Thankfully our Parliament voted against a snap election. Maybe the kidiots in parliament will work together now instead of bickering amongst themselves and lead our country through the public health and economic crisis that we are currently in.

I so tired of hearing the constant same rhetoric to every question they answer. A lot of guys I work with agree with the conservatives. They would like to here some answers about this we scandal. I hope this is The nail in the coffin for the ex drama teacher.

To be clear it was the liberals that made it a confidence motion, had they not done that there wouldn't have been any mention of an election.

At best it might have possibly been a conservative minority, highly unlikely we would have seen a blue majority.

Whats funny is how little contempt there is for the current government over what amounts to a possible billion dollar fraud, a fraud perpetrated under the guise of helping during a global pandemic.

You would think our national media would be all over something of this magnitude, but alas they are too busy focusing on the American political arena, probably doesn't matter that our government felt the need to spend hundreds of millions bailing out the said media.

There is contempt all right but there is also an acceptable time and place. I have no doubt that Trudeau is gone within a year after Covid is "under control".

But that can’t be allowed to distract from tackling the health and economic crisis which will likely continue for another year maybe two. They should just figure out how to work together for now and govern for the good of the country and it’s people. If they don’t then more and more people will turn their backs on politics and voting and too many people will suffer perhaps unnecessarily.

My biggest concern is that the Liberals will cry wolf (threaten an election) each time they are challenged in a way they do not like. Even the NDP will get sick of propping them up unless they receive the extremely expensive concessions they are looking for.

Don't get me wrong, I am fully aware that every minority government does this to some degree but this is now twice within a month.

I think the Conservatives were a little far reaching with how the worded the motion.

I think the Liberals must be hiding more dirty laundry with how quickly they turned it into a confidence vote.

I think the NDP look poor as they openly say they don't have confidence in Trudeau but will play along as the party doesn't want an election right now.

Having a general election right now would not be great. However, there don't seem to be any good options right now. We are in a sad state of affairs folks.

People just seem to live to complain about politics period. They hated Harper, they hate Trudeau , they hate Trump , they will hate Biden, they will hate everyone who is a political leader and think that personally that they could do better. Well go for it. Become a politician and see how you do. Facebook is probably the worst for complainers I’ve ever seen. Everyday the same people complain about the same politicians , same negative issues. We get it already! Why not fill your life and others with something positive and maybe some humour occasionally. Same old political bashing is pretty boring and annoying. Tell us something we don’t already know and make the world interesting and fun. Just my 2 cents worth.

When folks complain bitterly about individual in politics (IE the vitriol spewed about Mr. Trudeau and Mr. Harper etc) instead of addressing the party they represent I think it demonstrates an immature attitude towards politics.

It’s just so hard to take them seriously when they start on their triads about one person or another.

I will admit though that Trump is in a category all his own and is worth of direct contempt because, well, he is contemptible.

At work I have to multi task. At home I have to multi task. It not to much to ask our government to handle more then one topic at a time? Especially since they have committees to handle all these issues so why not just let the committees do there work. Not even the new committees. He’s blocked all old committees as well.

I personally believe that the covid 19 health and economic crisis should really be the top priorities for our politicians during this time and that the whole of parliament regardless of party should work together as one without distraction to get the country through this.
I am not a particular fan of any of them or the way that they behave sometimes but I also believe that we are living through an almost unprecedented time , an emergency situation if you will, that needs their undivided attention .

There are 650 MP’s in the House of Commons. You don’t think that a few of them could do work besides pandemic work? Ever heard of the saying to many cooks in the kitchen? I’m sure they could let some of the standing committees do there actual job. As a Canadian there is more problems facing our country then just the pandemic. I don’t want our politicians to have blinders on to one problem and forget all the rest. Sweeping problems under the rug just makes bigger problems later on.

Maybe it should...it is definitely an issue...although in my opinion, blown a little out of proportion by the fear mongering that is typical on news and social media. And this pandemic can, and is being used, to cover up / distract from crimes as well as an excuse for far more Business and Personal incompetence than it should really be blamed for (including deaths). Society today does not want to take any responsibility...credit yes...but not responsibility. We can blame our government for everything from our physical well-being to potholes to the demise of our community centres to not being able to buy camping gear on Sundays to... ??? and it seems to make people feel good to drag somebody else down (especially if they are blue yet too)! That is a societal issue far beyond the government. I think we would have a better chance of getting through this pandemic mess if people talked about it less, looked after themselves and others with courtesy and common sense (although I guess it’s not very ‘common’ any more) and quit blaming others/government for every detail of life that we don’t enjoy. Individual Responsibility is not encouraged enough nor taught well enough to children at home. Many people think that this is to be taught in school by the government. That’s a problem. Teach your kids that Admitting a mistake is an admirable thing...and it shows strength, not weakness. Teach them to be fair, but also teach them that life will NOT be fair.

The fact that a multitude of trudeau's family members happened to have been paid by this group that justin is also associated with isn't the biggest issue, its the fact a $900+ million dollar sole source contract was awarded to a company the Prime minister and family happen to have direct ties to, if that doesn't meet the definition of conflict of interest what does ?

Regardless of party affiliation, as tax payers we should all be outraged over situations like this.

The inclusion of the word “we” in my original post was intentional because it identifies myself as part of the problem. Plus, my intention with my above comments in the original post was, in fact, to offer some possible solutions to a problem that I admitted to being a part of. Sorry if I was unclear about that.

At this point, you’re running any given scandal up against the thought of having continuity in our Covid response and you shouldn’t underestimate the importance to someone like me in the latter. Our response in Canada definitely hasn’t been perfect, but the contrast with what the same virus is doing South of the 49th (and even a two hour drive away from Brandon) isn’t lost on a lot of folks.

Absolutely there needs to be oversight when decisions are made, but it’s a fine line right now between making the necessary points that maintain a level of accountability and looking like this is just the latest instance of trying to drum up a scandal and score “points” for their “team” in a partisan game of trying to win control that the especially politically engaged can be part of.

Many of us that have considered and hope to consider all major parties from election to election are watching with concern closely for signs of right-ish politicians drawing inspiration from what the far right South of the border have been peddling in. I’m hopeful that new leadership with the Conservatives knows and respects that because there’s a real chance they lose a chance at support from someone like me forever if they show too many signs of wanting to shift the same direction as what we’re seeing to the South.

I know we have a lot of folks that follow politics closely, but please don’t forget that there are a lot of us that don’t have a party and don’t particularly want one ... and that many of us want zero to do with an election at this point unless there’s something so inhumane and awful that absolutely cannot wait another year or two for voter intervention.
