C-17 deal

What's everyone elses take on the purchase of the C-17 transport aircraft?
I think it's great for Canada, now we don't have to rely on other countries to transport our equipment.
I also think Canada should go ahead with the C-130J's to replace the current fleet of C-130's. On one of the aviation forums, a rumour of Airbus suing the government because we're not seriously considering the A400. Those on that forum seriously doubt anything will happen. No A400 have been built yet and won't be available till at least 2009. I don't believe Canada can wait that long, the C-130J is ready now, it's proven and it has some commonality with the current fleet.
