The country has 4 national political parties and the Bloc Quebecois. The idea of any party getting more than 50% of the votes cast is unrealistic, unless it is a total route of all the parties by one political party.

As irrelevant as it has been in the past, the percentage of votes cast against the winning party is irrelevant today. It is interesting to see who might be upset by those numbers tomorrow though.
Until and unless we see some sort of electoral reform, what we have is the way it is. Personally, I'm not expecting to see any change.
