may be. I thought that a Liberal majority would all but guarantee that it would become legalized.

My bet is possession will decriminalized. The growing selling is another issue. Big pharma want it to remain for medical purposes only.  
 
Even if it goes wide spread it will be controlled sold marked up and taxed. The biggest concern many fear is those that grow for their own medicinal needs will be told to stop. Told to buy the controlled taxed version from a approved source. We see it in tobacco.

So now we will have to worry about dark drivers and now drivers that are "high". Not that people aren't doing this anyways but it will be even more now!! Now our kids will grow up thinking gateway drugs are ok! Now as mentioned above are we going to have to smell weed stink everywhere..... Wheat king games. The movie theater. Malls. Outside at public events? Everyone getting a high off of the smoke?

It's easy to cry for legalization while avoiding the logistics.

.....it gets legalized there are populations that have done so and offer examples and data that can be used to help set policy.

feel Harper had done a very decent job governing Canada. He led us through some difficult circumstances.  
 
Good luck to Trudeau and the Liberals and I wish them the best in continuing to make Canada one of the best countries in the world in which to live.  
 
Hopefully our media is up to the task of challenging Trudeau as vigorously as they challenged Harper.

sore looser (loser) fear mongering at all. Just wondering what legalization would look like.

The following are from Oregon's regulations regarding consumption of marijuana:

Probably not going to look very different than today, people who smoke marijuana smoke marijuana, regardless of its legality, its easy to find, use, and not get caught.  
 
A large amount of teens are drawn to smoking marijuana and the culture of it, because it is illegal, its a way to be rebellious against authority, take away that aspect of it and it becomes just a dumb plant that contorts cognitive function, and makes those under the influence seem mentally challenged.

It's not people being sore losers it's just a general concern for what things would look like if /when it does become legal. It's a whole new topic and area that we have never dealt with and I would say the only fear is the "fear of the unknown". People can say to their kids "don't do drugs" but now we are supposed to say "don't do drugs.... other than weed"?

Coke and meth is cost prohibitive to the average teen. E and Molly are the same thing, MDMA, which has no effect if used repeatedly, which is why you hear of no ecstasy addicts.  
 
They will have to look for other ways to rebel, like shaving their heads or something.

Society has been lied to about the misconceptions of marijuana. Your baby boy Harper is just another capitalistic American who wants to keep the people oppressed. Marijuana is the least of your people's problems. Take a look at your own lives and the worse things that you put in your bodies besides marijuana; ALCOHOL is a poison, the Sh!t food you eat every day, the lack of meditation and self growth. If anything you all should be smoking, eating, vaping marijuana it would loosen up your tight conservative asses!

Anyone who thinks pot will be legal soon has sampled too much product.The chance of it happening is the same as the chance of a balanced budget, nil. their will be studies and reports but no real progress, just another promise broken.

...to their kids "don't smoke" but cigarettes are legal. People also say to their kids "don't drink" but alcohol is legal.  
 
You have bought into the fear mongering that the Cons were dishing out. None of these substances are legal for kids to purchase or use, therefore they are ILLEGAL for them. As a parent, you should sit your child down and warn them of the dangers of many of life's choices and help them to make informed decisions.  
 
That is your responsibility, not the governments.  
 
As for legalization. It wont happen quick, if it happens at all. But, it is about time that we stop making criminals out of otherwise law abiding citizens.

I never said it was the governments responsibility. And you know nothing about my parenting so let's not even go there. I will do and say what I need to, in order to help my kids make good smart choices.  
 
This board was simply just looking at this topic from all angles and discussing what it would look like legalized. But of course people have to start attacking eachother?  
 
I don't care if people get high, I know a lot that do!! It doesn't bother me, but i choose not to smoke anything.. and would rather my kids not be exposed to it in public. That's my choice. What others do behind closed doors is their choice and that's fine.

Pot is not a gateway drug and thats brutal to even say such a thing. Smokes are worse then pot and everyone is ok with that even though it kills people, unlike pot that saves lives. Legalizing it will be more money for the economy and maybe chill people out vs. people being so angry all the time. Prescription drugs like oxy and such who are part of the heroin family are more of a gateway drug then pot.

Deaths due to prescription drugs have over taken heroin as a COD, we have way bigger problems than Shaggy smokin' a bone in his basement legally or illegally......

For someone who says they don't smoke pot, you sure are defensive.

I see no need to be "worried". This will be a long and slow process. Have patience and be honest with your kids.

question .. if it be comes legal how are the police going to police this ? there is no breath test for it . an they will be driving baked so bad than a burnt cookie in the oven . an drive right into you or rear end you . or cause high way accident cause there driving slow but think there flying down the road an get rear ended . or worse there driving fast an rear end someone .  
its every ones family out there on the roads .  

it will be about two years before it is legalized .It will take about three years for our new prime minister to spend all the money he has promised. By then everyone will be so mellowed out on the wacky tobacco that we will not realize that our deficit will is in the multi billions nor will we care. just saying!!

You have bought into Harper's (and anyone's else's) scare tactics.  
 
Alcohol is much more debilitating than pot when it comes to self control, loss of muscle control/co-ordination, logic, rational thinking, etc.  
 
PS, our deficit is already in the multi-billions... this year was the FIRST time Harper balanced a budget - and he raided the cookie jar to do it. It's all smoke and mirrors... politicians: you just can't trust them.
