I'm not sure why you want to go back 20 years to the last conservative gov. in mb. was it the balanced budget legislation that you didn't like? I would do more reflecting on why the ndp repealed that legislation. Not sure why some have also painted the former harper gov. as well as all conservatives as extremist. In 10 years what did the harper gov. do that was extreme right wing? The ndp have had plenty of time to fix their two pets ( health care and education ) We have the lowest test scores in the country and health is in poor condition in most areas. ( except administration where there are far too many workers.

MTS does not have a monopoly. Hydro does. Big difference.  
 
I am thinking seriously about this election. However, your attempts to remind people of things that happened 17 or 18 years ago has no merit with me in 2016.  
 
We are over $30 billion dollars in debt. That is problematic.

NDP apologists have nothing to offer except memories of 17 years ago. Personally, I did not agree with everything Filmon did. I haven't always voted PC in past elections.  
 
But those old enough to remember, realize that the Filmon Tories had to clean up a mess left by Howard Pawley.

There are no Conservative governments in power in Canada now. That must tell you something.

Privatization was great for enriching Filmon and some of his buddies who said they wouldn't privatize and then jumped quickly into the trough.  
 
I also believe that their attempt to rig the election is important. Let's remember that the judge in the case said that they were the biggest bunch of liars he had seen in his courtroom.  
 
You may choose to disregard past behaviour, but I believe that it is a reliable predictor of future behaviour. I can't support either the NDP or PC parties because their most recent behaviour while in government shows their core lack of integrity. So maybe it is time to give the liberals a chance. They could hardly do worse.

MTS bills have risen dramatically? I don't think so.  
 
If the PC Party wins the election, are you 100% sure they will privatize hydro?

No, Sorbet, I am not 100% sure that the PC's would privatize Hydro, nor have I ever claimed that. Past behaviour does create some concern, however. I also remember them promising not to sell MTS.

With record wait times, lowest education levels and an epidemic in the child welfare department it is good to see that the small possibility that hydro would be privatized that is the biggest concern! C'mon people the NDP has scuttled our province and their candidates are running like rats from a ship. For being a social party they have failed the people and the threat that the PC would privatize hydro smells of desperation

They were only in it for themselves???

Sask. has a conservative gov., also one of the most prosperous provinces in the country. mb.. has one of the highest debts per person in the country. Sask. has one of the lowest.Fiscal responsibility and a business friendly gov. is what makes a province successful.

The Saskatchewan Party is conservative in nature.

Saskatchewan has coalition government. The last Conservative Government was run by Grant Devine and was the most corrupt government in Canada. There were about thirteen members who went to jail so they formed an alliance with the Liberals and are called the Saskatchewan Party.  
 
 

While the Sask Party was formed by the remnants of a broken PC party and some defectors from the liberals, it is a newly created party. The Liberal party still exists.

Federally, the Conservatives are a coalition of PC and Reform as both no longer exist

Devines gov. had some issues but also did a lot of positive things, like the rafferty alameda dam project etc. The scandal was based on a fund with 837,000. dollars in it. Not a large amount,but there was still wrongdoing. It surprises me that no one in mb. was convicted with regards to the crocus fund scandal ( 154 million in investors money down the drain) slinger was finance minister at the time and was warned about major problems with crocus fund 4 years before anything at all was done. And the guy who blew the whistle on crocus (gov. employee ) got moved out of his position and then gave him 90,000. per year to work 10 days a year ( doing nothing )I guess no gov. is perfect.

Don't bring up scandals unless they are the doing of a Conservative party.

And the conference board of Canada gives an A+ to Saskatchewan while Manitoba gets a C.

I wouldn't call 8% over 5 years a big raise. Things have gone up more than 1 2/3% a year.

People were hungry for change.... just like we are in Manitoba It's not so much as kicking the Conservatives out as just wanting new fresh blood.

I am quite interested in the upcoming Manitoba election and agree that things need to change. We seem to keep comparing ourselves to Saskatchewan and how well that province is doing. No doubt it is a success story and Brad Wall has done a good job but we tend to forget about the oil royalties paid to the Saskatchewan government. In Manitoba 80% of the oil rights are privately owned whereas in Saskatchewan approximately 80% of the oil rights are owned by that government. I'm not sure about their revenue from potash. That would make a huge difference to the financial outlook for Saskatchewan over the last few years but now with oil prices low they are looking at a probable deficit and revisions in the upcoming year.

When I read that a NDP MLA confronted Selinger about when the MLA is campaigning and his constituents tell him that they hate Selinger doesn't that tell you something about the sad state of our provincial leader.  
I just hope that the voters in Selingers riding give him the boot in the election.  
It would save us the cost of a by election because after the election the NDP party will have no option but to boot him as leader and he will resign his seat causing a by election.  
So voters, turf him in that riding, do something for the province, please.

My wife works for Prairie Mountain, as a home care worker.  
They did not get a big raise.  
If you call 2% over 4 years a big raise, then maybe it is.  
It doesn't even match the cost of inflation.  
Meanwhile nurses got 9%.  
The MGEU team sold the homecare workers down the river.  
And that union sucks.

And wasn't it last summer that the feds and province announced a new road down the east side to service the remote communities there.  
Wouldn't they be able to run a line in conjunction with the road.  
Makes sense to a high school grad, but then common sense is something the NDP government is short on.  
Now the whole environmental green space save the forest talk is crap.

We speak about selling crown corps and always blame the Conservative govt. Then we bitch about how much our phone bills have gone up and fret about selling Manitoba Hydro.  
 
Before the Conservatives sold MTS I had a land line and no cell phone and had to be careful about making long distance calls because of the cost. Now I have a cell phone and a land line with unlimited long distance in North America and pay less for my service than I did before the sale.  
 
The NDP has (a few years ago)quietly sold the crown owned Property Registry to an Ontario company at a significantly lower price than SK got for theirs. (good negotiating skills by the NDP) Before the sale a simple status of title was $10.00 now it is $23.00.  
 
So the Conservatives aren't the only ones who have sold crown corps. the NDP are just as guilty. The problem is the NDP are incapable of making forward thinking fiscal decisions.  
 
If selling Manitoba Hydro resulted in better management and lower prices to Manitobans it might not be such a terrible thing, but I don't think that the NDP should be the ones to sell it. They don't know how to make a deal.

I have to disagree with a few points that you made.

The SpeNDP are also very good at forward fiscal thinking...how to line their pockets and the pockets of their friends.
