Does anybody really care if Mr Pallister took a vacation or not. The Ndp cant run on their own record so now they have teams going around trying to find dirt on everyone. If Mr Pallister was at home what could he have done, do you think the Ndp listens to anyone else. When the flood was on in Western Manitoba Selinger didnt declare an emergency, not until the flood got to Eastern Manitoba did he declare one. All the roads in Western Manitoba were gone 3 days before he realized the flood was on. It took him 4 years to replace some bridges and some are still waiting for repair. When he realized Winnipeg might get some flood waters he declared an emergency and flooded the Lake Manitoba ranchers to save Winnipeg. Those ranchers received no compensation for losing their pastures. 80 percent of the flood damage was picked up by the feds. I was in Souris sandbagging on July 1 and a lot of work was done. The only problem was their were no people keeping track of expenses so bills got inflated because no one could say wether they were correct or not. Poor management has to be the responsability of the govt in power, the Ndp just cant control expenses so taxes are continually going up and new taxes are being added all the time.

Big deal raising pst 1percent, nobody saw the flood coming and where would the money come from to pay for the damage. When Filmon promised not to sell MTS and then sold it conservatives never said he lied they said it was better in private hands. I guess Filmon had zero credability as he lied to.

I remember when Mts was govt owned and had no competition here our monthly phone bills were 5 to 600 hundred dollars, after selling it off and letting competition in our phone bills went to $100 per month, that is fact, Now Hydro has very little competition to be had, But what is the difference, Private ownership raising prices or an unaccountable NDP government letting it get completely out of control and not affordable

I'm disgusted with how Caldwell has reacted. I won't criticize him on his work ethic as it has been shown he does work hard for Brandon east ,but his non stop rants on Twitter are becoming desperate and are having a negative effect on him. He's throwing everything he can at pallister that he's hoping something sticks. It appears he knows the NDP a is done and is in survival mode now.

A premier that has allowed 80+ year old patients to be sent home by taxi to die on their doorstep was al low point for sure. But to be using scare tactics that his opposition will stop paying for cancer treatments, makes me feel he should be standing alongside Donald Trump. A pair showing no principles or character in their search to satisfy their ego

I missed this call earlier tonight as I was out but on my answering machine was a recorded message of Sharon Blady, the NDP Health Minister, talking about Pallister trip to Costa Rica.

What is worst is the NDP changed the protocol or whatever they called it, so now it's the taxi drivers responsibility to make sure the person gets into their house safely, so that instead of collapsing on their door step, they collapse inside their house. Which as far as I'm concerned is worse, because if they collapse inside their house no ones going to see them and it could be hours or days before anyone checks on them, but If it happens on the doorstep someone passing by or a neighbour will see them and get help. All the NDP was trying to do was cover their butts.

The NDP is sure quick to say that the conservatives would privatize Manitoba Hydro, yet right now hydro is hiring more private contractors to do hydro work then ever before. There's even a private contractor doing hydro work(replacing poles) in Brandon & area currently, who is from Saskatchewan.

Please don't make comments about the Manitoba hydro bidding process. They are not required to accept the lowest bid as they will need quality contractors. They are providing a highly reliable service with over 99% availability. You don't get results like that when you hire Tim the tool man to install the 500kV DC line across half of the province.  
 
Bidding processes for important services do not follow the engineering code of ethics for good reason. You are bidding for quality work and that isn't always offered by the lowest bidder.  
 
As for your comment about cost, tell me how much a car is going to cost? 1,000 or 10,000 or 25,000? Oh you don't know right away? Well what if I asked how much for a new Toyota Camry SE from Murrays with standard features? Oh now you can give a realistic price? Bipole III at that point was a concept, the kept engineering and got more realistic costs. All estimates are wrong, you have to spend time and money to get accurate estimates.  
 
In general it shows how little the typical voter knows about infrastructure projects and just assumes people are frivolously spending. You are paying for quality skills and talents and reliability and not to mention safety.  

If hydro bought a truck and signed a contract they would pay only the contract price. If the dealer came along after delivery and asked for more do you expect them to pay it. All contractors working for the Ndp know they can work for a cost plus contract. The plus part of the contract means whatever they can get away with. When you say quality skills and talent is that code for unionized only??? PRivate contractor do good work too....
