But I think the reason why a lot of people don't vote is because they don't know who to vote for. I know there has been elections were come election day, I have know idea who I want to vote for.

It would be interesting to know why some don't vote, other than the obvious of not being engaged with the election in general or they just don't bother as they don't care for any of the candidates (discussion here previously about some that choose to decline their vote).  
 
No disrespect to anyone that chooses not to vote because they are shy, don't know how or when, but in this day and age of the Internet (or access to) for a majority of the population, it's fairly easy with a quick search to find out where and when and how to vote.

I hope people can understand how important exercising your right to vote is. Not always, but sometimes the noisiest complainers are the ones that didn't make it to the polls or just didn't bother.

I did not vote in this election. I have voted in the past, however, I didn't follow the election enough to vote for any one candidate. I never heard, but was the number who didn't vote higher than normal for this election?

I have never voted once in any election since I have been eligible to vote in. 10 yrs now. I just personally find that whichever way you vote your going to get screwed some way or another. So therefore I do not vote. Probably a real stupid attitude to have if you want to call it that.

In manitoba you can decline your vote. So you go, get your ballot and write declined. It will get counted and won't be a spoiled ballot. There are directions to decline your vote on the voting screen. It was hard to write declined as there was so much black on the ballot though. This year was a record number of declined vote at 1%. Imagine if everyone who just didn't vote declined theor vote instead

I simply just forgot! I call it, mom brain. I don't live near my voting station and had lots of other stuff going on. Just forgot. Even though I hate politics and deciding who to vote for stresses me out I usually still like to go vote.

Didn't know you could decline at the poll. I would have been doing this for all these years.

My grandma in Saskatchewan told me she didn't vote (in the recent Saskatchewan election) because the polling station was too far away. She would have otherwise.  
 
I don't see why voting booths aren't set up in senior's housing. They could run them for an hour, go from room to room, then move on to the next building, like trick or treating. Or have buses to transport seniors.  
 
Some people I talked to didn't seem interested at all.

To be frank all the parties are driving towards the cliff. Usually I vote for the party driving the slowest, this year however it seems the PCs, Liberals and NDP were all driving 200 km/h right off the cliff. Can't vote for parties you know will do poorly. We need a bigger change than who's in the chair to fix Manitoba at this point.

so why not vote, at least the person you think will do the best job at this time might get in and be a voice for you. Without voting, you kind of do not have a voice, even though the person you voted for may not become the MLA, but the party might be in power. To each their own.
