I overcame...
8/1/2018 at 9:24 AM
sweets and junk food after about two months working out in my home gym. My ways of getting there was diluting any pop or orange juice with 50% water. I switched from 2% to 0% milk plus almond and soy milk for variation. Low fat yogurt and oatmeal have become a bigger part of my diet. I use smaller plates and bowels to 'fool' my mind and basically eat only half the portions I used to have. Chips and chocolate had to make way to dry cereal (i.e. cheerios) and later vegetables with a small amount of dip. When cravings come on hard, I try to keep myself occupied, get the mind of the 'addiction' so to speak.
I invested into a good blender to make my own smoothies which are my lunch replacement (fruits, peanut butter, soy milk & out meal). Having a hobby that can keep your mind and hands busy is a big advantage.
As 1984FadedStar already mentioned, my coffee is just with powdered cream now (started out with flavored cream first to get rid of the routine to add sugar).
The hardest time is movie time in the evening. My hand just wants to be busy, shoving something in my mouth. Plain popcorn, a dry nut and fruit mix or a dry slice of pumpernickel bread is usually the answer.
By now I'm in my sixth month, lost 12 pounds of body fat and walk through the junk food isle in the grocery store without even considering picking up chips or chocolate for myself (my kids still want some though).
It seems to me, after 8 weeks you just fall back into your cravings when you could have been almost at the point to overcome them. Keep trying, research some options on the Internet to find healthy replacements for your cravings.
I send you you a PM.
