I am looking for any information to help this situation.
Immigrant girl came to Manitoba 2+ years ago to go to school. Had work visas and has recently applied for extension (LMIA), and is in the process of waiting. She was told it could take 7 months for her work permit to be issued. She is allowed to continue working with the company she is sign for, but only has "emergency medical coverage". She never applied for Manitoba Health before just recently, and was denied as she doesn't have a valid work permit (its processing). She has recently found out she is 8 weeks pregnant, her boyfriend is a Canada citizen and a Manitoba resident all his life. We were told by "most clinics" here in Brandon it was 6500 for prenatal care, and 15,000, to 20,000.00 for delivery which neither of them have.
Looking for anyone who has dealt with this situation or anyone who knows how to navigate this girl to get care as neither can afford that kind of money in a short time.
Thank you "
Like ministries, The Salvation Army, churches, etc.? They sometimes have funds or resources that can help. Maybe Westman Immigrant Services can point you in the right direction.
