We don't know [i]why[/i] they were told they needed to lose 100 lbs. Maybe the surgery is dangerous unless they did, or getting put under is dangerous at the weight they're at, or the risk of clots is too great. Maybe they need to lose 200 lbs and 100 lbs is an acceptable compromise. Maybe the surgery won't be effective unless they lose weight.
I am obese and I'm aware that my weight puts me at risk for stuff. That's life, not discrimination.
