You know people who have developed kidney/heart issues, I know people who have cured a battalion of issues that existed for years on the SAD. Myself i:ncluded. My last blood-work came back with no issues. I don't presume to think that this diet will work for everyone, but after years of trying anything and everything, including the much hyped eat less exercise more, I find it quite funny that since reordering my food chart with carbs being lowest priority and fats being on top, I''m the lightest and healthiest I have been in over 15 years. I eat lots of veggies. Some fruits and berries. I avoid simple sugars and opt more for complex carbs. I don't eat a lot of carbs, but would not put my body into ketosis. I am around 60 and just had a physical and got a clean bill of health. My risk of heart attack is 6% over the next ten years. And I am not overweight. Not going keto does not mean that the only alternative is SAD. Personally, I would only adopt a keto diet if I had a serious health condition, such as epilepsy, that did not respond to other treatments. " |

Again, this is your choice. As someone who struggled with weight over the years and tried this diet you outlined which still didn't work I would say to each their own. I've always been considered overweight and this is from childhood. I never did the simple sugar thing and no matter what I ate, I would put the weight on. So again, your choice same as keto is someone else s choice. Benefits have been proven, this is not just a fad. The reversal of T2 diabetes, high cholesterol, weight loss, simply by changing the weighting of the food pyramid. Again, more power to you if what you chose to do worked for you, but why try dissuade someone from what might work for them?
I can get even more personal, I was going to the doctor for female issues, after a barrage of tests, bloodwork, scans etc, there was still no clear diagnosis. One month after keto, nothing!, no sypmthoms, no pain, and for the first time in over 10 years I was not popping painkillers for 3 days straight. I tried reintroducing complex carbs and guess what? That next month, I was in pain again.
The beauty of this world and this country we live in is that we are all free to make choices, good or bad. No one knows your story like you do. No one will understand the overweight struggle or the unique struggle everyone goes through. As I said before, I'm pretty certain most who choose to do Keto have done at least the basic research, read books, published researches, podcasts etc and decided to make the leap.
You mentioned kidney and heart issues, this is not a diet that works well mixed with any kind of carbs so it cant be a half on half off thing. There are people who develop kidney stones quite easily based on what they eat and there are proven remedies for that. Where heart damage is concerned, I'd love to see the diagnosis from a doctor that shows that someone doing the keto diet properly developed heart issues solely from this diet.
You also mentioned you wouldn't adopt the keto diet unless you had a serious health condition, so what do you consider obesity(in majority of the cases?)
