Please share your beauty school experiences with hair, nails, makeup or esthetics in either Brandon or Winnipeg. I'm interested in both clients and employees honest opinions about where to go for school.

I enjoy getting my hair cut and a beard trim at SBC. The students are clearly learning all the time and the teachers are engaged in the whole visit. Plus it's inexpensive compared to salons.

I can not speak highly enough about Systems Beauty College. I was an instructor there before relocating to another city. I learned more from Donna and the other instructors that I worked with in the 4 years that I was there, then I can remember learning in school. Donna is constantly leading her team and students to success, her main goal and focus is the students and their education. Her program is hands down the best for her students, she is always striving to bring new and exciting things into the school for her students!! Call the school, take a tour to see for yourself how awesome the school is and how great the program and instructors are!!

do they take walk-in clients? Is there a long list wait to book an appointment?

I am presently taking a correspondence course in Cosmetology/Beauty Care, from Stratford Career Institute. I have a very good average. (94%), however, this is "Book Knowledge." I have no experience, and do not feel confident to cut hair, at this point. I am looking for a Beauty Salon/Spa to do my practicum. H & Co. charges $56 PER DAY. Wondering if there is somewhere in Brandon I could do some volunteer services, in order to get my training and "Hands on" experience, I need. Any Suggestions?

Best to have appointments for Chemicals and everything for nails needs an appointment. Hope that helps.

I don't think that Stratford Career Institute is accredited with most programs in Canada. From Stratford, you do receive your diploma, but the courses do not count (in any way at all) towards getting your license.

I am one of the instructors at Systems Beauty College, as well as a past graduate in both the hair and nail programs. As a student I found my experience very positive and rewarding, as I was able to move forward at my own pace and learn basic and advanced skills in a very unique and hands on way. I'm happy to be an instructor now at Systems, Donna (owner/director) has been teaching and in the hair industry for nearly 30 years, and she strives for herself, her students, and her staff to be "better than the average bear!" I believe in what the school and Donna stand for, we teach students to be knowledgeable and honest in their industry and to continue learning.
