Need feedback on Bussiness Idea
10/11/2009 at 10:07 AM
I am looking for some feed back on a business idea.
I am a computer technologist with over 15 years experience both in technical trouble shooting and adult instruction of technologies/computers.
I am interested in starting a home based business and am wondering if it would be welcomed or it would be a flop.
I am hoping the people of Ebrandon can give me some feed back.
Don’t worry replying doesn’t mean I will be hunting you down for business lol.
Just want to gauge the interest in what I want to do.
Here is my idea.
I would like to start a home Computer training/Tutoring business.
I would charge by the hour and come to your house and train you or help you with your computer or technology in general.
Whether it’s learning a new piece of software or dealing with a virus infection I could even help someone build a new computer or upgrade the old.
I could help with basic to intermediate web page creation and or graphic manipulation and design.
I am even provincially certified for networking and cable installations.
I have many accreditations and industry Certifications. So I am not just some fly by night person wanting to make some quick cash.
This would be a legitimate business.
My question is this:
Would you or would you not be willing to pay someone $20-$25 dollars per hour to spend 2+ hours minimum with a technologist right in your home or business learning what you want to learn or need to learn?
All this would be done using your own equipment, Equipment you are familiar with?
Or Training for staff of your company or business? Maybe even something like a one-two day course with a group at a certain rate?
I have lots of experience as a computer instructor working with and training adults on various technology subjects. From Networking to Internet safety to PC fundamentals even various software’s such as Microsoft Office etc.
Is that too much too charge?
Is this service even required?
Is there already a service like this available in BDN and surrounding area?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
I have thought about working for a local repair company but it has always been my philosophy that’s its better to show people how to fix things themselves rather than just charge them to do it for them.
