I finalized the last details last night and the tickets are at the printers. The dance will be at M's Eastside Eatery (1451 Richmond ave. East ) Friday December 2nd from 8-12. The Slim Jim band will be providing the entertainment. If you would like to reserve tickets please e-mail me at djhenry64@gmail.com with the number of tickets wanted and your contact info. I'll get ahold of you as soon as the tickets are printed.

Also, a write-up with photo from the first dance would get wider notice by people. Then it could go to both newspapers.

When we go to dances in Brandon like Stepping Out at the Legion, Club 77 or Prairie Social Singles they always advertise upcoming dances in Westman. You could give them the info to advertise at their next dance. There is a Club 77 dance this weekend I do believe.

Post under ebrandon community events, of course.  
 
Create a simple Facebook Community page (where people can like and share). Social media is huge for getting the word out!  
 
News release to all newspapers/publications in town, as well as surrounding towns, as well as all local social media platforms.  
 
Westman Communications Group might still have a public service board of events on their channel.  
 
Simple posters advertising your event can go on community bulletin boards around town (Shoppers mall has one outside the previous Target entrance (west entrance/north end), and of course putting posters up in the place The event will be held.  
 
I'd also think about putting them (with permission of course) in relevant stores to your crowd. Eg: Music related places like Fader's music, Ted Good, Surridges..Many public places like libraries, BU, ACC, community centres, churches, etc. might have a public community events board. If some local business owners are on board, many times they'll allow you to put a poster in their window.  
 
Might be a bit more work, but a 50-50 draw, a raffle of some kind or a free prize (donated) helps as well to entice people.

I know you already have something lined up for the dance in Dec. but I just came across these guys and don't know if you have heard of them. They play stuff from an earlier era but could be fun. https://www.facebook.com/The-Mark-Humphries-Orchestra-447204868814760/ I think they lean more towards the 30's and 40's but just something to consider in future.

-,but I'm sorry Angee , but that band is not what we are looking for. We're about groups like: Elvis, the Hollies, Buddy Holly, Little Richard, Del Shannon, etc...even up into the 70's rock and roll.  
 
We will be having a 50/50 and a couple of spot dances, but cannot commit to the rest of the prices etc.. we'd like to have until enough tickets have been sold.  
 
I will try to follow up on the other advertising as well.

What is the hall capacity?

...has a maximum capacity of 86. I have the tickets printed off. Everyone wanting them please e-mail me at djhenry64@gmail.com and I'll make arrangements to get them to you.

Can you tell us how much the tickets are... $15. per person?

The tickets for this one are $15 ea.  
 
Once we have the local chapter of the club set up we will be selling memberships for $15/year. Members then pay $12 ea. for any other dances ($15 for non members). The math works out that if you attend 1/2 of the dances you will save the cost of your membership.If you attend all 10 dances your membership AND the last dance of the season are free.  
 
These figures are based on the break even point for the Winnipeg club. Once we have a few dances under our belt and an idea of how large our membership will be we will have to set our own prices to just cover local expenses.

-when the tickets will sell out. If we sell out people who have reserved their tickets by e-mailing me at djhenry64@gmail.com or calling Winnie at 204 573 3804 will have to be there no later than 8:15. Otherwise we will have to re-sell those tickets.  
 
I will be at M's Eastside eatery on wed. Nov. 16th from 5-6 PM , in the restaurant, to make it convenient for people to come and buy their tickets.  
 
Pre-selling tickets will give us an idea of how much food to order and some funding for more prizes etc...I'm sure you understand.

Thank you to Sharon and the staff at M's eatery for their hospitality last night during my ticket drive and for the generous donation of the hall as well as all the other support they are providing.

Kudos on organizing an event that looks like it'll be a lot of fun for a lot of folks. I'd highly recommend giving the events calendar a shot with a listing if you haven't already.... its a great central spot where people find out about many goings-on within not just Brandon but Westman. Which events guide are you referring to? I have presented the info to the Sun's community news and the community access TV station. I don't have cable so can't say if the TV picked it up but I see the paper did not list our event in this weeks flyers so will have to contact them again.
