Traffic question - please help

Pulling out of Tim Hortons to turn LEFT on Victoria...should I be on the left hand side? or a car turning in to Tim Hortons should be on the left?
It is SO confusing and no matter what I do I get bizarre looks and no one seems to know where to go and there is a traffic jam!
It is difficult to explain but hopefully you can help!!
