Hello!  
I am working with a lovely individual with a mild intellectual and physical disability, but is otherwise high functioning. I am hoping to get him more involved and active in the community. Does anyone know where we might be able to volunteer for a few hours at a time? We are also hoping to find a part time/casual paid position for him, as well. I have been looking, but don't want to miss any oppertunities!

I use to volunteer there and there are many jobs to do - from folding laundry, to washing dog bowls, to replenishing the water bowls to dog walking to just socializing with the animals. Give Tracy a call.

If you type in "volunteer" in the search box under discussions you'll find several previous threads with lots of great ideas on them.

The humane society is great if he likes animals. They are kind of a relaxed environment so he'd be able to work at his own pace doing his "job". Some of the dogs do jump and get hyper though (they're dogs..) but if he'd be okay with that I think it would be a great idea. Another option is I'm sure the second hand stores (not value village) would offer him a volunteer spot and maybe even a paid position? I don't know if they pay staff for sure but.

The blood donor clinic has volunteers working there giving people cookies and drinks after they give blood.
