Whoever ordered the rain can turn it off now.  
 
You know it's raining hard when you have to put the extension on your extension.

My garden and lawn are both loving the rain!

Just came back from Vancouver - they had a few sprinkles on the weekend, but could sure use the rain we're getting. They are almost as bad a California!

Not that it's a laughing matter but thread should read "RAIN!!!!!!!!!"  
 
I have never seen anything like this. I travelled downtown, north hill, can tire, its scary the amounts of flooding and water.  
 

my street has washed way again

My husband has been trying to get home for the past 45 min. All the roads leading into our neighbourhood (Riverheights) have puddles over the bottom of the car door - I think he finally ditched and is walking home.  
 
We lost our big tree in our yard.

I heard some rumors that Walmart closed down and just told everyone to leave? Any truth to this?

Well brandon must have got it all. Cause out by Forrest we never hit a drop....wind thunder and black sky.. And now the sun is shining bright

We probably got in the 50-60 range between our two rain gauges (they measure different amounts).  
 
Looks like on radar that more's coming.

My part of town had a healthy 1 3/10. Added a couple of pictures of the West End, which seemed to be a little worse as the prev post would speak to!

Raining really hard on highway 10 south right now. Please people have your daytime running lights on!

Up to now we have 2 inches in the rain gauge for today. This is at the very west end of Willowdale Cres., Brandon. We needed it, it has been very dry here.

Going to be interesting to hear of some of the totals in the souris area, it has been raining extremely heavy to the south of us, and I'm wondering if there was hail, it's been a roar and even though we has received some rain, it has been heavy enough to the south of us to cause a loss of our shaw signal.

Went to co op and it was pouring and flooding in places. Got to Walmart and it was sunny and not raining lol.  
 
Yes, the doors were locked for a bit. Alarms were going off and the fire trucks were there. A staff member told us that the back of the store flooded. It's back to normal now

 
Here in Hartney we saw dark clouds a bit of wind and thunder, but NO rain.

Was just at the till at Walmart, when the clerk and I commented how loud the thunder was. I looked outside, and it was raining cats and dogs, and elephants!  
 
A lot of people were heading toward the exit, then all stood there, as it was pouring. It let up, then some people made a dash for their vehicles. Then it started to pour once again.  
 
I waited it out before I called a cab.  
Then, the alarms were going off in the store, and people were coming out, saying the fire alarms were ringing. So the store was evacuated, customers and staff alike.  
 
Then the fire trucks came, so everybody had to get away from the entrance/ exit.  
 
Soon later, the staff were let back in to the store.  
I heard that the water was coming out of the floors and squirting up. So more of a flooding issue, than a fire, from what I gather.

And another good shot in progress this morning.  
For interest's sake, officially yesterday's two rains look to be on the books as a whole 3mm as per the link below. Second time in the last few weeks there's been a major rain event that didn't effect the area that readings are taken (airport) nearly as much as other parts of the city:

I've been watering mine all week for free too, joys of having a well with piles of water in the city. Except it's so lush and green I have to cut it every 3 days! I actually forgot I had the water on still and watered in the rain yesterday! Oh well, free water.

I believe with all the open space for a rain gauge to be considered accurate, airports are pretty much the only area that is usable, so it might be hard to scatter them throughout the city.
