Severe storm potential- June 9
6/9/2017 at 9:24 AM
From the map below, a good portion of the eBrandon usage area is in the risk zone for severe storms later today including potential for hail. They are also not ruling out the possibility of an isolated tornado:
Pasting below the Manitoba/Sask section from this mornings Prairie and Arctic Storm Prediction Centre statement:
"SASKATCHEWAN & MANITOBA...NOCTURNALS OVER SOUTH
CENTRAL SK AS OF 10Z. THIS AREA IS PROGGED TO TRACK EASTWARD TO
BE IN WESTMAN NEAR NOON. IF CLOUD CAN CLEAR OUT OF AREA, THERE
IS THE CHANCE FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT THIS AFTERNOON OVER SE SK AND SW MB. REMNANT BOUNDARIES FROM NOCTURNAL CONVECTION WOULD HELP PROVIDE FOCUS FOR CONVECTIVE INITIATION. WITH AROUND 1500
J/KG OF MLCAPE AND 45-50 KTS OF 0-6KM SHEAR, THE ENVIRONMENT WOULD SUPPORT SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING LARGE HAIL, STRONG
WINDS, AND A POSSIBLE ISOLATED TORNADO. FURTHER TO THE WEST OVER WEST CENTRAL SK, SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE, BUT WITH SMALLER HAIL LIKELY. WITH THE UPPER LOW IN THE AREA FUNNEL CLOUDS ARE LIKELY AS THE THUNDERSTORMS DEVELOP. AREA OF THUNDERSTORMS THAT DEVELOP OVER SE SK/SW MB WILL HAVE THE HELP OF AN STRENGTHENING
LLJ TO MAINTAIN THEIR SEVERITY THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT AS THEY TRACK EASTWARD. "
You can see storms currently tracking toward the area on radar at these links. Note that as of now there are no watches or warnings on these particular storms:
