Severe thunderstorm watch for
City of Winnipeg issued
There is a risk of severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening over southern Manitoba.
This is an alert to the potential development of severe thunderstorms with large hail and damaging winds.
Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements. If threatening weather approaches take immediate safety precautions.
At 1:50 PM, radar showed thunderstorms developing along a north to south line through Fisher Branch, Winnipeg, and st. Pierre. Over the next few hours, thunderstorms are expected to become more intense, and some will likely be strong enough to produce large hail or damaging wind gusts. Thunderstorms are also expected to develop in other parts of southern Manitoba this afternoon.
A ridge of high pressure will bring more stable air into Manitoba tonight, and as a result thunderstorms should weaken later this evening.
