For as long as I can remember, I've always been creeped out, particularly when I'm alone or when it's dark. I've never been afraid of humans, like criminals or anyone breaking into my house. I've always been afraid of spirits and ghosts.
A lot of very strange, unexplainable things have happened to me, both while I was alone and with other people. But it’s only me who sees or hears or feels these things. Like... someone breathing on me while I’m in my bed, or something flying over me while in my bed. The majority of the occurrences take place before I fall asleep or after I wake up. However, I have experienced many strange things in broad daylight, and also in dreams. I consider myself to be a very intuitive person, so that might explain me seeing the ghost of a little girl by the old residential school site, or seeing the body of a teenage girl who recently passed away in a car accident in a ditch along the highway.
But I feel that some of my experiences are geared solely towards me, and I feel they are becoming worse. I really began to notice a few years ago, I woke up one morning and there was a strange mass on top of me. I couldn’t see anything, but there was definitely something on me. I would guess it weighed about 30 lbs or so, and was maybe 3 ft long. I was stuck to my bed, unable to move.
Another morning I woke up and heard a man’s voice call my name, but I was home alone. The voice sounded very creepy, like how a ghost’s voice is supposed to sound. I heard my name again and again, and it grew louder and louder, and the length of time between each calling became shorter. This continued for about 2 or 3 minutes, and then it stopped.
Another morning I woke up, and the wall next to my bed began to shake, and it began to crack. The cracks on the wall grew larger and larger, and pieces of the wall began to crumble and fall. This continued for a couple of minutes, then it stopped and the wall was as it normally is.
One time my family (except for me) had all gone out of town, and I was alone at our house. It was about 6 or 7 pm, and it was still light outside. I went to use the washroom, and out of habit, locked the door. I was on the potty, and I heard someone walk up and, with both hands, bang on the door. The bang was very loud and obviously took a lot of force. I laughed aloud and said “Ha ha very funny!” And as soon as I was done I opened the door, expecting a family member to be standing there, laughing. But there was no one there. There was no one in the house, and all of the doors locked. In the time it took for me to flush and wash my hands, it would be impossible for someone to leave the house, lock the door and drive away.
A few years ago I was at work, and I came down with the stomach flu. I felt too sick to be at work, so I left in mid afternoon, promising to return later in the day after I had taken a nap. I went to my boyfriend’s house and took a nap in his bedroom, alone in the house. When I woke up, I was still the only one home. His bedroom door was closed. In front of the door was a girl. She was about 4 ft tall, wearing a long black robe/cape, similar to that of the grim reaper. She had her head down, looking at the floor. She never looked up, moved, or even said anything. Her image was a bit fuzzy, but everything else in the room was crystal clear. She remained for about 15 to 20 minutes and I haven’t seen her since.
One evening I was at work, closing the store by myself, which I did all the time. I was at the back counter, and no one was in the store. Very few people were actually in the mall at the time. I heard someone whisper my name, so I looked up. With a clear view of the entire store, I looked in the back and searched all of the fitting rooms. Nothing. I was alone in the store.
Often I hear noises and see shadows in the dark in my bedroom. Those sorts of things can be explained. There are explanations for shadows, even just a wild imagination or my eyes playing tricks. And eerie noises can be blamed on heaters, creeks in the floorboards, old houses shifting, etc.
But sometimes when I close my eyes, I see very frightening things. Sometimes I see faces of people, maybe people who are dead. Sometimes their faces are cut or disfigured, and sometimes I see totally random, yet frightening images. Images of demons, evil spirits, or even death, or the grim reaper.
As you can imagine, I often have very frightening dreams. The things I dream about are awful. From time to time I will wake up in the middle of the night, crying. I remember a terrible nightmare I had a few years ago. I wrote it down actually, so that I could try and analyze it later. Right before I woke up, I saw death. He was right beside me, and I was looking up at him. Somehow I knew I was in a dream, so I opened my eyes. I closed my eyes again, and I was back in the dream, with him still there.
I have noticed a few objects have been in different places than where I left them, but just slightly different. Again, things like this can be explained and ignored.
But what about when I’m lying in my bed and I can feel a hand, a finger actually, pushing on my left hip, then a finger pushing on my right thigh? Or sometimes the hairs on the back of my neck stand straight up? I know that happens to everyone sometimes. I just feel like my experiences are not normal. I wish I could come home and go to sleep without being scared about going to sleep or turning off the lights. But it’s not just at home, this happens anywhere I go. And I am scared at just about every place I go. I would really like to not have these experiences anymore.
Aside from these strange experiences and feelings, I consider myself to be very normal. I consulted a counsellor a couple of years ago, but didn’t mention anything about these occurrences. I basically asked her if I was “normal” or if she thought I had any sort of chemical imbalances. And I get regular physicals with my family doctor, and I am physically healthy.
I really don’t think I am crazy, but I have to wonder sometimes. Is all of this really possible? Or is it all in my head? Many of the things I see/ hear/ feel ... I have never heard of before. I have never seen anything in movies and then dreamt about it. Everything I have experienced is completely new to me. I always hear people say they wish they could see a ghost, or they think supernatural activity is “cool”. I disagree.
About six weeks ago, I woke up in the middle of the night. There was a girl sitting on the end of my bed, by my feet. I couldn’t see her, but I knew she was a ghost/ spirit, whatever you want to call it. I was talking to her, and she was responding. This was my very first interaction with a spirit. She was about my age, and she didn’t seem upset. She seemed very mellow, and harmless. Giving some thought to the possibility of a “demon” or harmful spirit following me, I asked her “Is there anyone else in the room?” She replied with “I’ll check”. After a few seconds, she said “There is a man in the corner.” I cannot describe the sick, gut-wrenching pain I felt when she said that. Everything in me just dropped.
Since then, I think it’s very possible that such a spirit could be with me at any place, at any time.
For this reason, I don’t enjoy being alone most of the time. But, I find it difficult to go to friends’ houses to visit, because I feel guilty if it comes with me. I feel guilty for bringing “it” into their home.
The reason for this very honest, very detailed story is to teach a lesson. I believe that a certain amount of what has happened to me is due to my own stupidity. I remember asking for an Ouija board for Christmas one year, I begged my parents to get me one. I did get it for Christmas that year. (Sort of ironic when you think about it, to want a medium used to contact evil spirits on the birthday of Christ...)
I used the board probably 5 or 6 times with friends in my home. I remember using it once with a friend in my bedroom. We were sitting on the carpet, with the only light coming from a tea light candle we had placed on the board. Apparently we had offended the spirit by insisting that it was fake and we wanted proof that it was real. So the spade FLEW out of our hands and dove across the board, hitting the candle, spewing wax everywhere. And the candle went out. I turned on the light, and what a mess. I swear there was more wax on my carpet, the blanket, the board and on us than there was in the candle! We then asked the spirit if it was responsible for that, and it replied with “Yes”. We then asked how it had done that. Its response was spelling out “breath”.
Maybe by using the Ouija board I invited an evil spirit into my life. Maybe it has nothing to do with an Ouija board. But I have read quite a bit of literature that claims that these boards can do such. So, please I beg of you, please do not buy or use an Ouija board. If you have one, throw it out. And do not ever try to conjure up any evil spirits. Thank you for reading this. God Bless.
