Depending on the type of cellphone you own, you can tell about how much data you''ve used over a period of x months, if the usage is only of that month, then you should compare to the data rate plans at all the competitors. However, if you''re ranging more than 15GB/month every single month, Bell MTS Flat Rate data may be good.
Even with BellMTS/Telus (those who were moved over FROM MTS) unlimited data usage, I find the average user only uses 1.5-2GB of data per month, but there are the people who don''t have home internet and use their cell for everything so THEN it makes sense, but unfortunately after 15GB of usage the speeds generally get throttled to dialup (but not always).
I''m on Rogers and happened to find special plans at random times, I know I''d be happy enough with 6GB plan, but when I signed up they only had a 5GB and then a 10GB apparently, so I went with 10GB, and then they offered a 12GB for same price, no contract changes, then a month and a half ago Rogers had a promo just for a few days where they''d double the data of the regular plan, so now I''m on a 20GB plan for $80, when in reality I''d likely be satisfied with a 5-6GB plan, but the upside is that after 15GB it''s still unthrottled!
Lastly, best promo right now is if you bring your own cellphone over from your previous carrier (make sure they unlock it for you), Koodo has a plan with 8GB per month, unlimited Canadian calling and Texting for $45, 8GB is generally most than what most use. I assume Fido or one of the other competitors will be competing on it soon
