Do you own one of these? Thinking of getting one. Are they easy to instal?

I have a Nest, and it was very easy to install. I did have a bit of trouble because we don't have a "C" (power) wire running to ours - but a quick call to service and I was on my way, and it works great. Love it over other 'smart' thermostats we've had.

Do you need to pay a fee to use it?

If your talking about a doorbell camera, here is my experience. Easy to install, very high quality video, runs on original doorbell circuit, has slight modification to the existing door bell chime, slight delay in notification, can answer the door via audio, saves recordings for 24 hours in the cloud for free, cost $50 per year to save recordings for a week before they are overwritten, doorbell fails to ring at -28, over a year of use with no problems.  
I have not used the Ring product, Nest was less expensive. Cheers
