looking to get my first cell phone  
was wondering what is the best deal is out there  
so many providers it seems like  
I am price sensitive  
thoughts???

When I was shopping around to upgrade my phone, I went to Bell (who my previous contract was with), Roger's,and Virgin. Ended up signing with Virgin.  
The kiosk in the mall has friendly staff that are prepared to make a deal. $20 cheaper for my new contract than the other 2 big companies.  
I believe they run off the Bell towers, so service is great.

They have all the same plans as any place in the mall.... or better.... and a lot of the plans come with a gift card... some I’ve seen come with a $250 one.... perfect to buy a great case right away, that didn’t cost you out of pocket

My suggestion is to get the package with unlimited data for a set price. I made the mistake of switching and don’t have unlimited data anymore and my extra charges have been upwards of $50/month. Never again.

Is there a service provider that offers unlimited data anymore?

If you're price sensitive, then pay-as-you-go might be a better deal. I pay a flat fee per year that gives me unlimited texts, unlimited evenings and weekend minutes and limited daytime minutes that I save for emergencies. It works out to be $15/month. I'm with Rogers, and always have great service wherever I've gone in Canada, with the exception of Spruce Woods (which from what I understand is pretty much for everyone LOL). I also have an older phone that I got for free as a hand-me-down from a family member who got a new phone.  
 
I don't have data as I have wifi at home and 90% of the places I go to also have free wifi. I can't use data when I'm driving, which is more or less the only time I don't have wifi LOL. So something like that might be a good option for you.

It all depends on how much use you re planning.  
 
Like said above, pay-as-you-go may be the best. For unlimited texting and some talk and data, Public Mobile is your best bet right now. It is part of Telus and has good coverage. $15/month get unlimited text and 100 minutes talk time. If you do autopay, you get $2 off per month and 250MB data.  
 
Telus has three brands. Public Mobile, Koodo, and the main Telus. Telus plans are usually the most expensive.

If you are okay with a credit check, Koodo usually has pretty good postpaid plans which will allow you to get a phone on their tab. If you time it right, you may get a phone with ample gift cards on their small tab. After three months, you can pay off the tab anytime (small=:$240, $10 coming off per month). Net price on a phone can work out pretty cheap.
