If you are with BellMTS and upgrade your phone now you will automatically be switched to Bell as the provider. No option to stay with BellMTS!!!!  
 
All companies have deals on right now and all share the same towers.  
 
LTE is apparently not available in this area and your phone will have faster service if you switch it to 3G. I did that and it's much faster.

3G...That is a little old. There is already 4G and LTE available. I don't know who was feeding you lines of LTE isn't here. Check provider coverage maps for clarification.

Not sure what OP is going on about LTE is absolutely available on bell. Currently on it as I type this.

Maybe OP isn't in Brandon. I am south of the city and my cell is definately not on LTE. I don't know how to check if it's 3G or 4G tho, LOL.

Just posted pics of 2 speed tests done in Brandon . One on 3G and one LTE. I kinda shocked . I’ve always kept my cells on 3G . So after the LTE test I’ll be using that for now on lol . I had mts then my contract was sold to TELUS . I’m happy to be back with bellmts.

LTE has been in Brandon and area for years with the big 3.  
 
Bell even has LTE-A available in most major centers now. Bell is switching everyone over to Bell from the MTS network and has been nearly since MTS was sold to Bell.  
 
Bell MTS hasn't had new customer activation's in at least a year now i think and any upgrades have been encouraged to migrate to Bell and at some point every MTS customer would be migrated to Bell. That was told around the time of purchase.

We've got LTE on all networks here in most of westman, but it only reaches a certain distance before it falls back to "4g" or whatever they're calling it now (hspa).  
 
You also will not receive emergency alerts unless your phone is actually close enough to get an LTE signal at the moment that the alert goes out.  
 
certain towers seem to have much greater LTE range than others, all else being equal.  
the LTE is definitely faster, as long as it's got some strength to work with.

Bell MTS Mobility has not existed for over a year now.  
 
When I upgraded my cell phones last Black Friday, I was migrated over to Bell Mobility. The only way you can stay on Bell MTS, is if you purchase a new phone outright (not an upgrade with a new contract).  
 
I was pretty choked up being ported to Bell last Black Friday, as I lost my Total Internet plan, but I knew it was going to happen

My contract is up as of today. I am going to leave it for a while and see what happens. I'd really like to keep my total internet.

There are ways to stay on BellMTS if you are a current customer. Step one is not going to the Bell store in the mall, as they are a corporate Bell owned store and have zero interest in giving people the option to stay BellMTS. BellMTS in the Corral Center is your best bet.

Even if you go to the Bell MTS store in the corral center, you will be switched over to Bell Mobility. The only way to stay with Bell MTS is to buy a phone outright, not upgrade with a new conteact. Sucks as people usually do not have the money to buy a new phone outright.

MTS mobility DOES NOT EXIST ANYMORE. Their website even states they discontinued the MTS wireless service and will no longer do activations on MTS and all new activations and upgrades will need to be done on Bell Mobility so there is no way to stay on MTS period. I don't see what the big deal is anyways. MTS was an old network held together with tape and Elmer's glue lacking moder features like wifi calling and VOLTE HD Voice and is inferior network to Bell Rogers and Telus.
