Firefox is my main browser, but there is also Opera, Brave and Vivaldi. I've used pretty much every popular option (minus Microsoft's chromium fork) to little hassle.  
 
Since you are in Ubuntu, most of the options should be in the store. Or if not, it's fairly simple to do an install on the command line/ in the terminal. When I used Linux Mint, I installed both opera and Vivaldi this way without issue. Having some troubles after jumping to Debian, but I suspect that is just my lack of skill.  
 
Either way, Google is your best friend in terms of pretty much any distro. Just keep an eye on the age of the material you are reading. Like everything else, OSes update.

Opera would honestly be my next choice. It's been around forever and always been good for me. I've never heard it refered to a sketchy before.

Opera is a good choice. I've never had any lag issues with it (chrome, for me, is the worst offender).  
 
I don't have extensive use of any browsers aside from FF and chrome, but I do know that Opera has a built-in VPN (if privacy is important). Brave is also quite privacy-centric, though without a VPN.  
You can use the Tor browser, but that will be slow as molasses.

Unfortunately, all of the browsers I mentioned are chromium forks. Even Microsoft threw out its own Edge specs in favour of the chromium architecture.  
 
The only one that isn't is Firefox lol. Firefox= The grandchild of Netscape.  
Also, the Tor browser is a highly configured Firefox browser.  
You can likely configure another browser to use the tunnel, but that is beyond me. If you're up to the challenge, you can likely find the answer.

Either way, I would try Brave or Opera. They are based on the same root, but they don't seem to behave as such (at least to my eye).

Nice thing about Opera is that it has a built in VPN that can be turned on. Firefox being my first choice.

The tunnel thing was me saying that any browser can likely be configured into a tor browser (since your not a FF fan), but it will take some studying. Far more work than i'm willing to put in.  
 
I wouldn't touch anything connected to Comodo or Sectigo (if they entirely rebranded). The last time I came across the Comodo browser was as bloatware with a Comodo Security install on a Win 7 machine. And the company is just . . . not great.  
 
As for what temp your machine should be running at, im honestly not sure.  
I know that my CPU used to run at 40 to 50C while running folding@home simulations in the background, and that was considered normal. Since switching from Mint to Debian, it runs even cooler (I feel less heat coming off it). Which makes sense being that Mint has a WHOLE lot going on, and Debian is like an OS dessert.  
 
Either way, ide try Opera.

Give Midori a try. I always liked using it back when I was using Linux Mint exclusively. Lightweight and fast.

Depends what your priorities are. If you are concerned about privacy, then Opera is not a great choice. Lots of data and privacy issues, and its VPN isn't a real VPN. Youtube is your friend here. Some of the best rated browsers today by people who aren't running with the herd are Vivaldi and Brave. Both excellent choices. And both MUCH better than the mainstream players for privacy. Lots of youtube videos to help you with this. I recommend ChrisTitusTech.
