Are there any decent Pay as you go providers?

I've got an old CDMA phone, it's a Nokia something or other. I'd like to activate it, but MTS won't give me any of thier plans without a 2 or 3 year contract.
Is there any way i can cheaply register this phone with a carrier, and just pay for what few minutes i'm going to use?
