Apple offering iPhone sans-contract (and unlocked) in Canada

It appears that Apple is now allowing customers to now buy iPhones online for Canadian customers, without a contract and with it being Sim-card unlocked, so if you want to switch carriers from time to time (or use an alternative carrier such as 7-11 or Petro Canada), it will give you the option to do so without being tied in a 3 year contract.
I think it's about time, hopefully Apple doesn't shut it down immediately, the idea of an iPhone carrier-unlocked sans contract is a great idea, but it's not cheap.
They're currently offering an 8GB iPhone 3GS for $549, while the prices of unlocked iPhone 4 hasn't been announced, but it's predicted they will be selling the 32GB iPhone 4 for $750 or so. I believe the iPhone 4 will be selling (with contract) for around $400 (or less or more depending how long you have been with Rogers, etc)
Google has been offering one of their Android phones unlocked in Canada for a few months now, so it's great to see Apple jumping on board! $750 is a bit much, but the removal of carrier-locking and 3 year contracts appeals to me.
