My cell phone contract is over soon, What Next?

My Rogers 3 year cell phone contract is up next month and I wish to try something different. I realize there has been numerous threads on this topic but I need a refresher. Have never been a text type of guy but am willing to adapt to change. I think a pay as you go type of deal would be more to my liking and I also don't make many long distance calls. Any suggestions? Some people at work have reccomended Virgin Moble. I know nothing about this outfit. I'm open to all ideas.
