Trying to decide on which one. Currently have an iPhone 5...battery keeps dying. I love the FaceTime and apps but hate iTunes. I checked out a Samsung the other day and it peaked my interest. I am worried that the Samsung won't have the apps I currently use. Any pros and cons for either would be greatly appreciated. My cell phone provider would be MTS.

Both are good phones. I'd say stick with what you are most familiar with.

I'm also torn...but leaning towards the iPhone 6 myself hopefully battery life is better than the 5

I don't know pricing through MTS, but through Rogers, the iPhone 6 is $349, and the Samsung S5 is $0, based on a 2 year contract.  
 
Some apps are shared through both Apple and Android, others aren't. I think that there are more apps for the Android though. I really like my S5. I can easily go a day on a charge.  
 
My plan with Rogers is Share Everything, with unlimited Canada wide calling and texting, and 2GB of data, for $60.

I think the S5 might be tricky to get as they are on $0 at mts to clear them out (S6's are in now), there weren't any available last I checked.

Wait for iPhone deals. They just had three .... Mother's Day, Graduates and Father's Day. The phone was $50-$100 off

The iPhone 6 and S6 cameras are both better than the Z3's, even with less resolution. Megapixels aren't everything.

All phone cameras are garbage anyway. If you want a phone, get a phone. If you want a good camera, spend the money and get a decent camera.  
 
I would never buy Apple products due only to the fact of their money grabbing proprietary parts and cables that they change out every couple of years to make the old versions obsolete.

Yeah iPhone has such a good camera that I keep seeing this comment on Facebook.... "sorry about the poor pictures, I took them with my iPhone..." lol

my Samsung s5. No issues. Never had an iphone though. Made the decision purely based on the larger screen size and the fact that im not tied to apple for apps. When im ready for a new phone, pretty sure ill stick with this line.

Apple isn't the only one to do this. Isn't the Android OS known for not working on every phone. You could have a phone that is only 2 years old and it won't support the newest Android version forcing you to upgrade if you want the latest thing. If you don't like apple that's fine but you can't use that as a good excuse when every technology company is trying to get you to buy their next product. Apple has changed their cables ONCE since the first iPhone.

I had iPhones religiously before. I switched over to a Samsung and love it. You have pretty much all the same apps (except eBrandon.....). I'll honestly never go back to an iPhone. It takes a bit to get used to but it's nice not having a new update every 2 months.  

If I was you I would go with a Samsung Galaxy S5 I've tested both and I own the Samsung Galaxy S5 and it is still my favourite. There's honestly, not a huge difference between the iPhone 5S besides a few features and bigger screen.  
 
You should do more research on Android verus Apple products to see which one best fits your needs.  
 
I like how on Android you are able to download additional apps from third market app stores, download movies because they allow a wide variety of file types for Android. Android is really customized you can change your notification tones, add different type of lock screens, change led light notifications, and you even get some really cool "blocked app" such as SMS spammers, anonymous phone caller, and my favorite Facebook comment spammer.  
 
I mean if you are looking for something for personal use that is fully customize I would go with Android you don't have to root your phone to get some really cool themes for it there's a lot that just allow simple implemented launchers. Most Android have children enable mode if you have children.  
 
Conclusion: Android has always had way more features than iPhone still do less updates, more applications, better customization, better battery, occasionally overheating if used a lot, easier to fix if it breaks, and least but not least you can usually go up to 128GBS in external storage compared to a iPhone where you have to buy more cloud storage where on Android irs a simple micro SD card.

I have the Galaxy s5 Active and I love it! I am Samsung all the way & my husband loves his iphone 6 plus

Samsung galaxy s6 it's an amazing phone best phone display on the market plus YouTube has tips and tricks for whatever phone you get to help you get used to it. I had the s5 thought it was great than got the s6 and it even better than it. Iphones are iphones haven't really changed in years and usually a bitime behind in technology. S6 has fast charging which is a plus takes about an hour to fully charge from around 10% 50% charge in 30 mins. But in the end it what u like

Having said that, I prefer my Samsung phones. Not tied to the proprietary dealings of iphone and androids are highly customizable. LG G4s are very comparable I hear tho. Either way, I will stick with Samsung, I am thinking. Battery life in the newer generations are much higher than previous. And wait until September as that is when the new Samsung phone will be released and all the present generations will be going down in price so you will get more functionality and tools with the drop in price.  

Who cares about customizable options? I can change my wall paper and the order of my icons and folders-who needs anything else. Does anyone actually change their theme on a regular basis? I bet only a small percentage does. I'm sure I'd love Android but I've always had iPhones since it came along and I have no reason to switch. All my music is on it, all my apps and I enjoy using it. I have no reason to switch. Your average joe doesn't need 100GB of storage. Your average joe will download a couple of games and productivity apps.  
I'd go windows phone before android because it actually looks like it has something different to offer.  
If you want to customize your phone get a Android or get an iPhone and jailbreak it. I did that 2 years ago and got tired of themes, etc. and went back to original. If you want to live in fear that there is malware on the apps you download get Android. If you want your new phone to not be able to run the newest version Android 2 years from now get any Samsung, Sony or LG.  
 
All sarcasm aside I like my iPhone. People defend their phone like they work or have family at apple or Google. There is a reason despite Googles large market share because it's open to anyone who wants to make a phone and put their OS on it that Apple is still a threat... They make good software. Speed tests always have the iPhone near the top against newer hardware. It does what you need it to do and does it well without any pre-installed software. If you like simple and elegant get an iPhone. If you want lots of "customizable" options that really don't add much to the end result get any Android phone.  
 
If you're on a budget however get a Android.

How when people with iphones want customization they "jaulbreak" theRe phones where on Android u can just do it. Google play music is great and better than apples new music service and cheaper if u like to stream music or download it o.99 a month but gets u any song you like and download it to your phone for those cases where cell service is an issue. Virus can happen on both softwares and rarely do so get which one u like and is right for you on a side note the s5 is water and dust resistant so if you are prone to your phone ending up in water the s5 might be for you

For me personally, I think i prefer the samsung line simply because of functionality. I can pull the 64 gig card out of my phone, put it in my go-pro, pull the same card out of that and put it directly into my tv or computer.  
 
Battery becomes weak? replace it with a new one.  
 
As others have said I don't like being pigeonholed into buying and downloading apple proprietary stuff.  
 
Someone mentioned that all companies do this to some extent, fair enough, but you can't argue that apple has become masterfull in selling you other apple stuff because you already have one apple product. People want seamless integration between devices in their home, and apple does this well so long as all the devices are apple.  
 
That is however, not an argument for apple making a bad product, admittedly.  
 
Iphones have a smaller learning curve, and another thing i've noticed is they seem to have better reception where reception is weak. My wife has an iphone and she will regularly pick up a couple bars where i will have no signal period. I've heard similar comments from other samsung users.  
 
Each have their pros and cons, the decision lies in what each feature is worth TO YOU.

I am on the fence as well as I love apple but have wanted to try something new as of late, although I'll probably end up sticking with that I know as I have never had a problem with any apple product. I just love the argument about Samsung being able to switch out memory cards and batteries which is true on older models, but the new galaxy S6 is completely internal which means no more switching out batteries and cards. This seems to be the biggest pull aside from customizability towards Samsung and who knows, since it's such a hit with the older phones, maybe the new one will go back to being able to do this.

Have an s4. I've had it for a year and a half and no problems! My friend has an s5 and it seems great as well. I changed the OS on mine to the new one... lollipop I think it's called. I love my phone. With my iPhone I went through 2 in a year

You should get an iPhone 6s or 7

I'll just say get the Samsung S6 or S6 edge, a whole lot of customization for you to choose from to make your suit you. They support the latest android OS but there are also alternatives like the HTC One M9 which I love cause of the Sense UI and Boomsound speakers. Don't really care for mobile cameras so the not so bad camera on the HTC doesn't bug me.  
 
But I have been a long time iOS user and android also. The only thing that keeps me using iOS is jailbreaking, other then that I won't use iOS if it isn't jailbroken, android on the other hand is IMO the best mobile OS.  
 
You can't get FaceTime or iMessages on android, those are exclusive iOS apps made by Apple but there is an android version of these apps available too.  
 
But android will do everything an iPhone can and a whole lot more that it can't. Go for android.

When my contract was up in 2013, I originally got an s4, and took it back within the first 2 weeks and went back to an iPhone 5. Going from an iPhone 4 to android, it was crazy how un-user friendly android is!  
 
With this new legislation my contract was up June 3rd, and I'm not sure where I'll go. I might give the Samsung another try, but mainly because mts wants insane money for an iPhone 6.
