I was wondering if anyone knew what the reception would be like in Brandon, and what channels you can get, with an indoor or outdoor TV antenna?

I still have one tv with rabbits ears. All I can get on it is CTV Winnipeg

We live just outside of Brandon and we get Global and CTV. I believe those are the only 2 channels we can get here. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. We only have a cheap indoor/outdoor antenna. I'm still very happy though as it doesn't cost me a dime. I still get HD TV. We get everything else from the internet and the best part is we watch our shows we want to watch when we want to whatch them. If it's nice out I don't worry about TV. I save that for a rainy day. We have saved hundreds so far and soon will be thousands. Just by getting rid of satelitte TV.

CTV channel 4 analog comes from a tower south of the city, easy reception.  
 
Global Winnipeg Channel 2.1 (physical channel 9 frequency)Digital HD. comes from a tower by Minnedosa. Also fairly easy reception within Brandon. Must be "scanned-in" using your TV's menu in antenna mode. Rabbit ears should be set about halfway shortened to match the channel 9 frequency.

Antenna mode on your tv causes it to use a slightly different frequency/channel plan when scanning channels. Several of the channels are identical, but not all. Therefore it's important to select correctly before starting the scanning process otherwise it may fail to find some channels because it would be looking in the wrong places.  
 
This won't be so important in the Brandon area as I believe that the channels used here are the same between cable setting and antenna, but if you're closer to Winnipeg or the USA border, you WILL miss channels.

Starchoice had a promotion where they would hook you up for free with NO monthly charges. That included the dish,wiring ,receiver and remote.....all free. What you get is all the winnipeg channels and then some,aprox 15 channels in total,all free!!! That is what we use at the lake.Do not know if you can still get that promotion or not.
