So my Galaxy 5 phone did an automatic software update last night, causing serious problems. My SD card is now unusable and I can't seem to get any of my picures or videos off of it. I have tried putting the SD card in my computer and it says that the card is corrupted and needs to be formatted. I haven't formatted it or tried changing anything on the card since this happened... does anyone have any idea how I can get my pictures and videos off of the card?

Try running the disc utility on windows to check for errors. You can do this buy plugging in your SD card into your computer and going to start->run and type in "CMD". Then use the command chkdsk E: /f where "E" is a different letter depending on your SD card drive letter. Let me know if this works.

Not sure if that is a good idea to run chkdsk on your SD card. There are recovery software out there that can check your SDcard and recover the pictures and videos.

Use the cord from your charger. Plug your phone into your computer with the USB cord and transfer them over. Hope that works. I better go check mine now! Also did the update this morning. So far all good though.

Has anyone had problems receiving texts since the update? I am missing texts from people. Sometimes they come through and other times they don't. Does anyone know how to fix this or know of someone that could help me. This is getting annoying as I am missing important information from people. Thanks!

I did the update and now my phone wont charge. I've tried two different cords.
